NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASE TRAINING PROGRAM
The Neuromuscular diseases and ALS department of Nice University Hospital Center, an outstanding research center devoted to understanding neuromuscular diseases and development of innovative clinical therapies for neuromuscular disorders, is welcoming applications for position as neurologist fellow in an international exchange program for 6 month to 1 year for training in neuromuscular diseases.
The fellow will take part in clinical activity and training activity on our institute and on the CRMR’s specialized platforms (anatomo-pathology, electrophysiology, ultra-sound/MRI) as well as in basic and/or clinical research projects focused on genetic and epigenetic of neuromuscular diseases, development of cellular and animal models.
Duration: 6 month up to 1 year
Profile
Candidates should speak French and English to take part to clinical training, French or English to take part to basic research projects.
This training is highly recommended for young neurologist in training wishing to spend a year in a foreign Institution and European PhD candidates
Description of the center
The Neuromuscular diseases and ALS center, led by Pr. Sabrina SACCONI, is in charge of patients affected by genetic and acquired neuromuscular diseases including motoneuron diseases and mitochondrial diseases. The center has been recognized as National Reference Center for Neuromuscular Diseases and ALS, and is part of the European Rare Network-NeuroMuscular Diseases (ERN-NMD).
The center offers a full range of diagnostic assessment, care and treatments to patients affected by a neuromuscular disease. A patient-centered multidisciplinary approach is promoted, including the possibility to follow the patients in their environment, in simple or multidisciplinary appointments, in daily/weekly hospitals, and to provide them the access to specialized technical platforms for diagnosis, care and treatment delivery as well as or for research purposes. For several years now, the neuromuscular diseases and ALS department invests in basic, clinical and translational research for neuromuscular diseases.
The Nice Center is a real university hospital entity bringing in the field of rare diseases, debilitating and often severe prognosis, diagnostic expertise of national remedies, a personalized multidisciplinary coordination inter-specialties and with the liberal sector and caregivers of place of life, associated with very positively evaluated research and teaching activities.
